The North Fork Mountain trail traverses miles of ridgeline within West Virginia’s Monongahela National Forest. As you cross through hardwoods you’ll be treated to views of the rolling hills and valleys below. The route passes near the famous Seneca Rocks formation that can be observed in the distance. Other attractions on this hike include the summit of Skidmore Mountain and Chimney Top. This outing can be experienced as a bruiser of a day hike or an overnighter but be aware that the ridgeline placement of the route may make it difficult to find a sheltered campsite or filterable sources of water; bring plenty to drink.
